Oliver Stevens Patient Advocate Scholarship

WORLDSymposium is proud to support Patient Advocates with scholarships to attend the 2027 Scientific Meeting in San Diego California.

The Scholarship

For the first time, WORLDSymposium is offering up to two grants to help cover the costs of attending WORLDSymposium 2027 in-person. The grants includes conference registration, hotel accommodations, and travel to San Diego, CA. These grants are open to Patient Advocates. The grants are made possible by financial contributions from Biomarin. The application deadline is October 1, 2026. Grantees will be notified by email by October 15, 2026.

  • WORLDSymposium will provide travel funding as listed here:
    • WORLDSymposium will book the hotel at the conference hotel for 5 nights, and pay for the room & tax, no incidentals
    • WORLDSymposium will book Coach class flights to and from San Diego, CA
    • WORLDSymposium will provide a daily stipend 
    • Airport transfers in San Diego to and from the airport will be arranged by WORLDSymposium
    • All other expenses, including any incidentals and meals not provided by WORLDSymposium, will be Applicant’s own responsibility. 
  • WORLDSymposium will not reimburse costs already incurred

Eligibility

  • The scholarship is for patient advocates only; Applicants must be part of a registered non-profit in their country.
  • Presenting at WORLDSymposium is not a requirement.

  • Scholarship grants may be used only for conference registration, travel, and accommodation.
  • Applicants are responsible for ensuring all travel requirements are met, including visas and entry permits where applicable.
  • By accepting the award, the grantes(s) consent to WORLDSymposium and Biomarin using their name, institutional affiliation, conference details, and any provided images for promotional purposes across social media, newsletters, the WORLDSymposium website, and other relevant business materials, without additional compensation.
  • By submitting an application, applicants consent to WORLDSymposium processing their personal data in accordance with its privacy policy, which can be found here. This will include sending updates about the WORLDSymposium Annual Scienitific Meeting.
